Through a cavalcade of related, sort of related and unrelated events, I ended up selecting a very special tree to be my personal poetry tree - MY OWN POETREE :)
The tree is a Red Spruce - Picea Rubicans - the provincial tree of Nova Scotia. It is a beautiful tree with reddish colour bark and beautiful green needles. It is currently quite small in stature - only about 8 centimetres tall, a trunk the size of a sewing needle and a total breadth of about a two centimetres across from needle to needle.
I adapted a colourful water-resistant bag to tote the tree around in - and today took it visiting to one of my Mental Health Writing Groups, as well as one of my Mindfulness for the Health of it Groups. Apparently the tree was chosen as the provincial tree of Nova Scotia because it can and does survive in a diversity of circumstances - just like the people of Nova Scotia :) I am including a couple of photographs of my poetree here - all dressed up and ready for another outing along with artifacts in the bag from the Classical Elements of Earth, Air, Water, Fire & Aether.

Ode to
My Poetry
Tree
My poetry
On your tree
Part of you
Part of me
By me
For me
For me, for sure
From me
It is a part of me
My words
My thoughts
At first illegible
Undescipherable
Now destined
For you
& From you
Too
Too much - I hope not
My poetry & your tree
Creating our collaborative
Poetree
Parts of me
Parts of you
Of you
For me
Of me
Now for you
Two
Two, maybe three
Maybe more
Who else
Is my poetry
Destined
For
For my poetry & our poetree
Together
We are a forest
Standing tall
& Mindfully strong
Through heat & cold
Wind, fire & floods
Through it
All
All struggling
To be
Struggling to be still
Trying to let go
Of the struggle
& Bend
Bend with truth
& Not break
Because my poetry
on your tree
Makes a poet
out of me
& a poet
Out of you
Also
xox...
